How to clean a toilet with natural products

Ever stopped to think about what you’re really putting down your toilet when you clean it?
After you squirt those brightly dyed, bleach-laden products, they leech into our waterways where they can impact the environment.
If you’re looking for a fresh alternative to clean a toilet using more natural products, you’ve come to the right place.
Stop flushing so many chemicals down the drain and give these suggestions a try.
1. Essential oil solution
Smelly toilet? We’ve got the Solution! Essential oils are the perfect candidate for natural toilet cleaning due to their freshening and deodorizing properties.
In an essential oil solution, like Bosisto’s Eucalyptus Solution, it’s even better. This special, water-soluble formula allows the oil to disperse evenly in water, making it perfect for cleaning.

How to clean a toilet using essential oil solution:
1. Pour 2 capfuls of Bosisto’s Eucalyptus Solution directly into the toilet bowl.
2. Agitate the water with a toilet brush until it is mixed in.
3. Scrub all surfaces well, including under the rim.
4. Flush the toilet.
It takes just seconds – this is one of the quickest methods of cleaning a toilet using more natural products.
Extra tip: Wipe the toilet seat and other surfaces with a damp cloth moistened with neat Eucalyptus Solution, to clean and remove stains and grime.
2. Citric acid
Tough stains on your toilet bowl? Try citric acid. This powder is derived from fruits like lemons and oranges and can be found in most supermarkets.
Due to the natural acidity, it is a low-tox way to remove stains, mineral deposits and grime.
How to clean a toilet using citric acid:
1. Mix a quarter cup of citric acid powder with a cup of warm water.
2. Stir the mixture until the citric acid dissolves completely.
3. Pour the solution directly into the toilet bowl.
4. Allow to sit for at least 30 minutes.
5. Use a toilet brush to thoroughly scrub all surfaces.
6. Flush the toilet.
For any stained areas above the water line, follow steps 1 & 2, but put the liquid into a Spray bottle. Spray on stains, leave 30 minutes then proceed to clean.
3. Bi-carb soda
Ah bi-carb soda – what can’t it do? We love using this versatile product for cleaning and it has one great advantage over some other methods – it pairs perfectly with essential oils, such as Lavender oil.
Talk about Flower Power!

How to clean a toilet using bicarb soda:
1. Flush the toilet first to wet the sides of the bowl. This helps the bi-carb soda to stick to surfaces.
2. Add a few drops of essential oil, like Bosisto’s Lavender Oil, to a cup of bicarb soda and mix in well.
3. Sprinkle the bi-carb mixture in and around the inside surfaces of the toilet.
4. Let it sit for about 10-15 minutes, giving it time to absorb odours and begin to break down stains and grime.
5. Scrub thoroughly with a toilet brush.
6. Flush the toilet.
For regular maintenance, you can sprinkle bicarb soda in your toilet bowl weekly. Or, leave overnight for really tough odours.
4. DIY Toilet Fizzies
